You know, validation can go a very long way in helping someone recover from a difficult hair loss journey.

It helped me feel better and validated on a path I walked alone for far too long.

The truth is the hair loss journey is filled with various emotional stages.

Each person’s experience is unique, and it’s important to acknowledge that these stages may not occur in a linear order.

You might find yourself facing several at once, revisiting previously experienced emotions, or moving through them in unexpected ways.

Here are the most common 5 stages of hair loss grief:

  • Stage 1: Avoidance: It’s common to avoid facing the reality of hair loss. You might skip looking in mirrors or casually style your hair to minimize the appearance of thinning.
  • Stage 2: Frustration
Feeling frustrated or angry is a natural response. You may envy others with healthy hair or feel upset with ineffective treatments. It’s okay to feel this way. Hair loss sucks. That’s true.
  • Stage 3: Researching
This stage often involves an exhaustive search for solutions, where you might spend significant resources on various treatments, hoping for a miracle.
  • Stage 4: Overwhelm
It’s normal to feel overwhelmed by sadness. It’s easy to lose hope and withdraw from social life due to your self-esteem.
  • Stage 5: Reconciliation
Hair loss acceptance finally comes. You begin to adapt, finding new ways to feel confident and reclaiming your identity.

Years ago, I had the idea for Goldylost. I wanted it to be more than a hair shop. I wanted a community of women who knows what hair loss is and who support each other through every stage. So, we created a Facebook Support Group and Goldylost Academy. The academy is a series of lessons to empower women with knowledge. We want to help them make the best decisions.

Whether you buy from Goldylost or another shop, we want to help our community. Sharing knowledge is one way to do that.

Goldylost offers not just high-quality wigs and toppers but also a space to share, heal, and connect with others who understand what you’re going through.

Thank you for making Goldylost a space filled with encouragement and solidarity. Hair loss is not the end!
