Here’s your easy-peasy guide on how to pamper, style, and store your GoldyLost wig or topper:
WASHING YOUR WIG OR TOPPER
Be Gentle! Rough Handling, Using Harsh Shampoos or Conditioners, or Vigorously Scrubbing The Lace or Silk Can Lead To Tangling, Shedding And Breakage.
Remember, Darlings, You Don’t Have To Wash Your Precious Piece as Often as You Would Your Own Locks. Around Every 10-20 Wears Should do The Trick. The More You Wash, The Shorter Its Fabulous Life Span!
Washing your wig or topper
- Before Washing Your Piece, Gently Brush Out The Knots
- Fill a Sink With Luke Warm Water And Add a Small Amount Of Sls Free Shampoo To The Water.
- Submerge The Piece In The Water Gently Swishing It Back And Forth. Be Extra Gentle Around The Crown, And Lace Areas.
- Rinse Out All Of The Shampoo Completely.
- Apply a Small Amount Of Your Chosen Conditioner To The Lengths And Ends. Avoid Applying To The Lace or Silk Area as This Will Loosen The Knots And Lessen The Life Of The Piece.
- Rinse Out All Conditioner Thoroughly. Using Too Much Conditioner or Not Rinsing Completely Will Leave Your Piece Looking "Dirty"
- Treat your hair to regular conditioning masks for that Irresistibly soft and silky feel.
Drying your wig or topper
Time to say goodbye to excess water, my lovelies.
Gently Squeeze it out and wrap your piece in a towel, giving it another squeeze for good measure. Now, let it rest on a wig head or stand, gently combing the hair to your desired part line.
Let it air dry to prolong its fabulous life and give it that shine, or if you’re in a hurry, blow dry with the nozzle facing downward for that flawless finish. Once it’s completely dry, style away.
PRODUCTS WE LOVE
STYLING
Wigs and toppers offer endless styling possibilities. Experiment with different looks-straight, curly, updos, braids-and discover the joy of reinventing your style.
Let’s talk heat styling tools. They’re a necessary evil for achieving those fabulous, runway-worthy looks, but let’s not forget their impact on the longevity of your hair.
TO USE HEAT TOOLS SAFELY:
A WIG OR TOPPER CAN BE DAMAGED BY VARIOUS FACTORS IF NOT HANDLED WITH CARE. HERE ARE SOME COMMON CULPRITS THAT CAN CAUSE HARM TO YOUR PRECIOUS PIECE:
Ocean and pool:
Yes, you can wear your wig to the beach or the pool, but salt water and chlorine will cause damage to the hair and will lessen the lifespan of your piece. And let’s be honest, high quality human hair is not a low cost investment.
We recommend saving your gorgeous goldylost and using a lower cost wig or topper for your beach, such as a synthetic piece, a gorgeous sun hat or a cute turban.
Beware of sunscreens!
Warning: some sunscreens contain avobenzone and octocrylene, which can change the colour of your blonde or grey alternative hair.
Choose alternative options to preserve your colour, such as mineral sunscreens.
Wigs and topper safe sunscreens
• bare republic mineral sunscreen lotion
• sun bum mineral SPF 50 sunscreen lotion
• coola mineral body organic sunscreen
Wig head/cork head sizing
Head size matters: did you know mannequin and cork heads come in different sizes? Ensure yours is smaller than your wig cap size to avoid stretching!
Blonde care
Blondes will oxidise over time, looking more golden. They will benefit from a purple shampoo rinse or re-tone at the salon when needed.
Products to avoid
You can use any salon quality human hair products on your piece such as serums and hair oil. We recommend only using clear oils on blondes, avoid darker hair oils such as Moroccan oil on blondes as it can deposit colour in to the hair leaving it brassy.
Do not use coloured products such as root sprays as this may colour the silk parting.
Friction and rubbing
Constant friction against rough surfaces, such as hats, headrests, or collars, can cause tangling or hair loss. Be mindful of your pieces contact with abrasive materials. We do not recommend wearing a hat over your hair piece.
Sun exposure
Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can fade and weaken the colour or your piece. UV protection sprays can help minimize sun damage.
Remember, treating your wig with gentleness and using proper care techniques will help prolong its lifespan and keep it looking fabulous.
