- Circumference
- Front to nape
- Ear to ear
To determine your wig size you will need to take a few measurements using a flexi measuring tape. The most important measurement is the circumference. The below video will show you exactly how to measure your head:
All wig measurements are stated on the listing. Please ensure you check your head measurements against the listing measurements, even if you think you know your wig size. Different wig caps are constructed differently, the sizing can also change.
Choosing The Right Size:
After measuring your head as per the video, you can throw your measurements in the below chart to find your ideal cap size:
Topper Sizing:
You do not need to measure your head for a topper. The sizing is universal and fits all head sizes. You only need to choose how large you would like the base. The larger the base size, the more coverage you will get.
The cap sizes are measured in inches from front to back and side to side. So an 8x8inch cap will measure eight inches from the front to the back of the cap, and 8 inches from the left to the right, when the cap is stretched over your head or cork wig head.
In silk top caps GoldyLost Hair sells 7”x7”, 8”x8” and 9”x9” with the 8×8 being the most popular. We do not stock smaller caps than this as these sizes tend to be the best fit for most head sizes, sit the flattest, and the clips sit on stronger areas of hair. We can do smaller cap sizes as a custom order.
In Lace Toppers we stock a large base of 10″ x 10″. As with the silk toppers we can create other sizes as a custom order.
The smaller the base size, the more of your own hair you will see. A larger base size allows you to cover the majority of your own hair with the topper hair, so you can be more flexible with length and colour.
Length
The hair length is measured from the crown to the tip of the hair at the back. Most pieces will also have a layer 1 -2” shorter, and face framing layers at the front. This gives a more natural appearance.
It is always better to take measurements of your desired length, and not make an assumption from photos of others in their wigs or toppers. Length can vary from person to person depending on head size, neck length etc. To measure, take a flexi measuring tape (a friend may be required to help) and measure from your crown down your back, making a note of your desired length.
I recommend adding 1 – 2 “ as you can always cut it shorter if needed.
That’s it! As always, if you have any questions, send me an email at contact@goldylost.com
Hi,
I would like to buy a wig and have been following you and all the beautiful wigs for a long time. I’m not sure to go with a blondish colour or soft brown. Currently my hair is very pale blonde as whatever dye I use the sun bleaches it to blonde.
I’ve been looking at the Brigette 14” but am not sure of the actual colour. From the photo, face on it looks like a warm chocolate, side on and from the rear it looks much lighter.
Also, my measurements seem to be a small but ear to ear I’m a little shorter. Would small still be ok?
And finally, what is the quickest way of getting it to me in the uk please.
Many thanks
Julie Sykes
